Fiat Strada 130TC after full restoration

This 130TC had the usual rust problems but Mitchell Motors corrected

Rare Fiat parts were sourced to bring the car back to original

Engine bay detailing took time but the results speak for themselves

The underneath was prepared with as much attention to detail as the more visible areas
The Fiat Strada 130 TC is getting rare along with many other once common place hot hatchbacks such as Volkswagen Golf GTi, Ford Escort XR3 and XR3i. Mitchell Motors have the skills and experience to handle everything on your modern classic from a discrete improvement to a full restoration such as on the Strada.

Please contact Andrew Mitchell on 01747 820223 to progress your project.

Range Rover VELAR at Dunsfold Land Rover Collection biennial open weekend

The Range Rover VELAR we have looked after for the past few years was in very good company at the recent biennial Open Weekend of the Dunsfold Land Rover Collection in Surrey.

On the right is AOY 289H which is the oldest surviving RR in the world. It is the sixth of the seven Engineering Prototype cars and was built in 1969.

On the left is newly-restored YVB 166H which is one of the 27 Pre-production vehicles. It was driven by Land Rover’s Roger Crathorne to victory in the first Hill Rally in the UK in May 1971.

In the centre is NXC 245H which is one of the batch of twenty cars build before production began specifically for the Press Launch of the Range Rover in June 1970.

All three vehicles shown here were originally registered as VELARs.

Pre-production VELAR Range Rover on the Bodensee Klassik Rallye

VELAR Range Rover number 40, which we have fettled for the past four years, was one of the four cars in the Jaguar Land Rover entry in this year’s Bodensee Klassik Rallye in Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Liechtenstein.

The VELAR is one of the twenty vehicles built before production began, specifically for the press launch of the original Range Rover in June 1970.

Team JLR included a 1949 Land Rover Series One, a 1978 Range Rover and the renowned record-breaking Jaguar XK120 ‘LWK 707’ which averaged over 100mph at Montlhery over seven days and seven nights in 1952. The team’s average speed on the rally was rather more pedestrian!

The VELAR was the only team car that drove to and from Lake Constance to participate in the rally, covering just over 2,000 trouble-free miles in six days.

Mitchell Motors Alfa Romeo Giulia - Donington AMOC meeting June 2013

Finishing at place 16 put of 27 and importantly avoiding the pile up at the first corner, the Mitchell Motors Giulia is start to come good as a competitive racing machine.

Should you need any paint or bodywork undertaken done on your classic car, please contact Andy Mitchell on the link below. Better still, go to a forthcoming AMOC race and see the standard of the Mitchell Motors bodywork first hand.

Bristol 400 chassis has a total restoration

Using our expertise and bespoke grit blasting facility this Bristol 400 restoration is starting to take shape.

Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe repairs to door skins and rear wings

Almost every item of work we undertake throws up a set of challenges, both new and old.

Jaguar XK120 Drophead Coupe in for discreet, but reasonably major repairs
In this case we are required to repair the doors and wings only. This throws up the challenge of matching the colour of the original paintwork.

Whilst we embrace - and it is an essential part of our process - the colour spectrometer our colours are also eye tinted in an approximate percentage ratio of 90% to 10%. The 10% is the icing on the cake, the final detail that elevates our work from other businesses.

Another Aston Martin DB4 in primer and being readied for its top coat

Akin to the foundations of a house, our pre top coat phase is totally essential to ensuring the quality and durability of the finished paintwork.

The Aston Martin DB4 shown here in our custom made paint oven is almost ready for the top coat.

How to properly restore a Bristol 400 wheel

Often wheels  are powder coated and that is the extent of their "restoration".

Although it takes more time we believe in grit blasting, spray filling, sanding and then paint priming the wheel for a totally superb finish.

AC Greyhound detailing of paintwork

Minor but important detailing work on a superb AC Greyhound.

Shown is the superleggera chassis primed and awaiting return of the original panels.

For this car we have retained the original panels and will be replacing with new edges.

Alfa Giulia second outing at Oulton Park

Andrew Mitchell the owner of Mitchell Motors came three quarters of the way down the grid, which was better than hoped for what amounted to a competitive shakedown....in horrendous weather.
