Le Mans AC Ace from 1959 bare metal respray

All classic cars have a story. It could be simply running to the shops for the last sixty years, or of more historical significance like the AC Ace we were entrusted to conduct a bare metal respray on. This AC Ace won its class at Le Mans in 1959 and its foibles and idiosyncracies needed to be preserved.

Once again the use of our high technology equipment was combined with traditional methods of working to produce an end result that preserved and enhanced this period racing car and became in turn a part of its history.

De Tomaso Vallelunga prototype featured in Classic & Sportscar magazine

The De Tomaso Vallelunga only ran to 53 cars plus a convertible...or spider as it was termed. We were privileged to extensively restore the prototype and the car post restoration was featured in Classic & Sportscar magazine.

Plastic media blasting - The sensitive way to remove paint from your pride and joy

As the pictures above show, plastic media blasting finished off with a light grit etching produces a surface devoid of paint but in a sensitive way that does not destroy car bodywork like other methods, or leave behind chemical residue that can appear at a later date ruining a restoration.

The finish left is so good that it looks like the car has been primed, but it was not at this stage.

Classic car paint removal with plastic media blasting

Removing old paint is our speciality and we have used all the methods you can think of, including chemicals and mechanical stripping, grit and soda blasting. The most effective way to remove paint is - in our opinion - by use of plastic media blasting - the gentle yet effective firing of plastic beads at the area of paint needing removal treatment.
